Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are a great way to gain qualifications and combine college-based training with training in the workplace. They are aimed at people between the age of 16 and 24 and Lowestoft College offers apprenticeships in:
- Administration
- Bench Joinery
- Brickwork
- Decorative Occupations
- Engineering
- Catering and Hospitality
- Hairdressing
- Installing Electrotechnical Systems
- Plumbing
- Site carpentry and joinery
- Welding and Fabrication
Apprentices usually spend one day a week at college and throughout the programme learn the most up to date techniques. They also learn how to apply their skills in the workplace and training can also be adapted to meet the needs of the company they work for.
During the programme apprentices earn while they learn which means that they are paid to train. At the end of the programme, if they are successful, the apprentice will also have a qualification to back up their skills.
Every applicant is assessed for their literacy and numeracy skills before they join the programme to help ensure the selection process is as easy as possible and to make sure they are matched to the right company.
